Adults With Developmental Disabilities Sue New York State To Expand Housing Opportunities
Adults with developmental disabilities in New York state are suing the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) to expand certified independent residential living opportunities for all adults with developmental disabilities. The plaintiffs seek community-based housing and supportive services.
The lawsuit, E.B., et al., v. Cuomo, et al., was filed in September 2016, on behalf of more than 2,000 people in Western New York and their families and caregivers. No hearing date has been set. The state’s response is due by December 8, 2016.
