Loneliness Significantly Associated With Increased Risk Of Parkinson’s
Loneliness is associated with a 37% increased risk of developing Parkinson’s disease (PD) up to 10 years later. The association between loneliness and PD persisted after accounting for demographic and other factors. The association was discovered in an analysis of survey data from United Kingdom Biobank participants aged 38 to 73 years who responded to the question “Do you often feel lonely?” The participants entered the study between 2006 and 2010; they participated in a follow-up during October 2021.
