Los Angeles County Breaks Ground On A Proposition 1-Funded Project To Create A 162-Bed Mental Health & Housing Campus

California is allocating $65 million from Proposition 1 to create new housing and mental health services in Los Angeles County. An additional $41 million is being funded through other state and county sources. The project, called Los Angeles County Care Community, will redevelop vacant state-owned property into 162 housing and mental health treatment beds.

Groundbreaking took place on March 6, 2026. An announcement from Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn stated that remodeling of the interim housing site and the two mental health rehabilitation centers is set to be completed in December 2027 and January 2028 respectively. A construction . . .
