Los Angeles County DCFS Missed Foster Care Maintenance Payments After Change To New System
On February 14, 2017, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a motion to launch a root cause inquiry into missed foster care payments by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) since December 2016 following transition to a new digital case file system. According to news reports, DCFS has missed “hundreds” of payments to foster parents, group home managers, children formerly in extended foster care, and others. As of February 21, DCFS said most of these missed payments have been resolved with appropriate monies issued.
