Louisiana Reinvests $8.5 Million In Prison Savings For Local Rehabilitation & Training Programs In Five Parishes

On October 18, 2018, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards announced awards to five parishes to reinvest $8.5 million in prison savings due to criminal justice reform, with $2.6 million going to local rehabilitation and training programs operated by non-profit organizations. The five parishes—Caddo, East Baton Rouge, Orleans, St. Tammany, and Jefferson—house 40% of inmates in the state.
