Maine DHHS Awards A $2 Million PRTF Contract For Youth With Behavioral Health Disorders To Sweetser
On March 20, 2025, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) awarded Sweetser a contract valued at $2 million to run a locked psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) for Medicaid-eligible youth with behavioral health disorders. The facility will be the first of its kind in the state. The goal is to provide an in-state setting for youth needing residential psychiatric treatment or step-down care after an inpatient psychiatric hospitalization so that they are not forced to leave the state for treatment.
