Maine DHHS Seeks First In-State Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility For Youth

The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) plans to add the first in-state psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) for Medicaid-eligible youth. The goal is to increase capacity so that youth with serious emotional or mental health issues are not forced to leave the state for treatment and to provide a setting for youth needing non-hospital psychiatric treatment or a step down from inpatient hospitalization. DHHS has established MaineCare (the state’s Medicaid program) rates for PTRFs.
