Maine Settlement Expands HCBS Services For 1,000 Adults With Intellectual Disability & Autism
On November 24, 2014, a federal district court in Maine approved a settlement in a lawsuit filed by a group of adults diagnosed with intellectual disabilities and autism on a waitlist for Medicaid home- and community-based services (HCBS), although the state had not filled all the waiver slots. The terms of the settlement call for the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to expand the waiver program and offer MaineCare HCBS to the approximately 1,000 class members before July 1, 2015.
