The State of Maine intends to improve child well-being and safety by implementing a five-year plan spanning 2025 to 2030 to provide at-risk families with services and supports to help them avoid involvement with the child welfare system. The types of preventive services and supports needed, and the plan to implement them were outlined in the state’s five-year Child Safety and Family Well-Being Plan, which was developed by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the Maine Child Welfare Action Network.
