Maryland Legislature Considering Expanding Access To Behavioral Health Telehealth
On January 13, 2021, the Maryland legislature began considering a bill that will expand access to behavioral health and other telehealth services by requiring insurance carriers and Medicaid to reimburse for audio-only telehealth services. In addition, on January 26, 2021, Maryland Senate Bill 571 Interstate Licensed Professional Counselors Compact was introduced. It will allow professional mental health and addiction treatment counselors licensed in other states that participate in the compact to serve consumers located in Maryland.
