Maryland Implements New Online Application For Behavioral Health Licensing

On February 10, 2025, the Maryland Department of Health (DOH) launched a new online application for all behavioral health licenses. The new system replaces the legacy paper-based application process, making it easier for provider organizations to apply and stay in compliance. Information is not available regarding the status of paper applications submitted before the online process was implemented that have not had licenses issued. As of 2023, Maryland had 34,613 licensed behavioral health professionals working in various areas of the field, according to a report from the Maryland Health Care Commission (MHCC).
