Maryland Launches A $72 Million Maternal & Child Health Care Initiative
On July 1, 2021, Maryland launched a four-year initiative to improve maternal and child health outcomes with funding of $72 million over four years. Of the $72 million, $8 million each year will come from Maryland Medicaid, plus guaranteed matching funds from the federal government for qualifying Medicaid expenditures through the Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP) (equaling $64 million). The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) Public Health Services will also receive $2 million annually for four years, equaling $8 million.
