Maryland Legislation To Prohibit Medicaid Program From Requiring Parent Presence For All Hours Of ABA Services
The Maryland Legislature recently passed bills to prohibit the Maryland Medicaid program from requiring parents or caregivers of a child with autism receiving applied behavior analysis (ABA) services to be present during the appointment. Currently due to the way the state’s Medicare reimbursement requirements are written, parents and caregivers must be present during Medicaid services and treatments. However, ABA sessions can last from 20 to 40 hours per week.
