Maryland Medicaid Hold Continues For Select Behavioral Health Organization Enrollments Amid Ongoing Fraud Investigation

The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) extended a temporary moratorium on new Medicaid enrollment for certain behavioral health provider organizations in 10 Maryland counties, a measure the department framed as part of its ongoing effort to identify and address potential fraud, waste, and abuse within the provider organization network. The moratorium, first implemented on July 1, 2024, applies to four specific provider organization types and services licensed under the Code of Maryland Regulations 10.63 and 10.09 for community-based health programs:
