Maryland Rebids Public Behavioral Health ASO Contract
Maryland is rebidding its behavioral health administrative services organization (ASO) contract for the public behavioral health system (PBHS). On January 10, 2023, the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) released the request for proposals (RFP MDH-OCMP-23-19761) with responses due by March 16, 2023. The initial contract term runs for five years followed by one two-year option period. The current behavioral health ASO is UnitedHealth Group’s Optum, which has a five-year contract with the state that runs through the end of 2024, worth $190 million.
