Medicaid, CHIP & ACA Enrollment Drops By More Than Eight Million

Combined enrollment in Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace plans decreased by more than eight million people between June 2025 and mid-2026, according to a recent analysis. Combined enrollment across the three programs fell from 104,213,775 to 96,193,048, a decline of 8,020,727 people, or 7.7%.

Medicaid and CHIP enrollment dropped from 80,820,577 in June 2025 to 76,993,048 in the most recent data, a decline of 3,827,529 people, or 4.7%. ACA marketplace enrollment fell from 23,393,198 . . .
