Medicare Beneficiaries Who Used Hospital At Home Had A Lower Mortality Rate Than Those In Traditional Treatment
Medicare beneficiaries who received care through the Acute Hospital Care at Home (AHCAH) initiative that started in November 2020 generally had a lower mortality rate than their brick-and-mortar inpatient comparison counterparts. For 10 different diagnosis-related groups (DRGs), the AHCAH initiative had a lower 30-day mortality rate per 1,000 individuals. Beneficiaries who participated in AHCAH were most commonly diagnosed with respiratory conditions, circulatory conditions, renal conditions, and infectious diseases.
