On July 25, 2018, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) downgraded Nursing Home Compare star ratings for direct care staffing for 8.9% of the 15,616 skilled nursing facilities in the United States. In total, 1,387 SNFs were downgraded to a single star out of a possible five stars for staffing.
