Medicare To Expand Home Health Value-Based Purchasing Model Nationwide In 2022
Starting January 1, 2022, the federal Medicaid program intends to expand its Home Health Value-Based Purchasing (HHVBP) Mode from the current nine states to the 50 States, territories, and District of Columbia. The proposal would shift home health Medicare reimbursement from straight fee-for-service (FFS) to a value-based system that increases or decreases the FFS reimbursement rate based on provider organization quality metrics and savings generated. During 2022, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will provide technical assistance to the more than 7,500 home health provider organizations.
