Medicare Updates Metrics For Nursing Home Compare Five-Star Rating System
On October 6, 2014, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced it was implementing new metrics and initiatives to expand and strengthen the Medicare Nursing Home Compare Five Star Quality Rating System. Funding to strengthen the rating system was included in the Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation Act (IMPACT) of 2014. The new initiatives are intended to improve the usefulness and accuracy of the quality ratings of individual nursing home facilities.
