Michigan Awards $15 Billion Medicaid Managed Care Contracts To Nine Health Plans
On April 8, 2024, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) awarded Medicaid managed care organization (MCO) contracts for the Comprehensive Health Care Program (CHCP) to its nine incumbent health plans for the state’s 10 regions. The new contracts are for nearly 2 million people enrolled in Medicaid or the Healthy Michigan Plan (Medicaid expansion population). The contracts, valued at $15 billion, go into effect on October 1, 2024. The initial term runs for five years through September 30, 2029, followed by three, one-year optional extensions.
