Mild COVID-19 Infection Can Have Harmful Effects On Cardiovascular Health
New research suggests that even mild cases of COVID-19 can have long-term detrimental effects on cardiovascular health. The aftermath of the COVID-19 infection, commonly known as long COVID, is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease, dementia and, in extreme cases, death. Increased risk for long COVID is related to a person’s age and other variables, such as being female, having a higher body-mass index, and smoking.
