Minnesota Evaluating FFS Rates For Outpatient Behavioral Health & Addiction Treatment
The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is evaluating its rates and rate setting for Medicaid fee-for-service (FFS) outpatient mental health and addiction treatment provided through Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare (MNCare). An initial evaluation report found that the current rates are not transparent to provider organizations, and rates are in high need of reform for community-based mental health, addiction treatment, and early intensive developmental and behavioral intervention (EIDBI). The evaluation is the first of two reports required by legislation enacted during 2021. The second report will be submitted to the legislature by January 15, 2024.
