On September 15, 2022, the Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS) reached a settlement with the plaintiffs in S.J. v. Tidball (now Knodell), a lawsuit filed on behalf child Medicaid beneficiaries with medically complex conditions. In the settlement, the state agreed to modify its policies and practices to ensure that approved in-home nursing services are available so that children can avoid long hospital stays or institutionalization.
