Missouri Juvenile Justice Overhaul Changes Eligibility For Adult Prosecution

Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe signed Senate Bill (SB) 888 into law, limiting the circumstances under which juveniles can be transferred to adult court; however, it adds a new entity that can move to transfer a case to adult court. Currently, juveniles from age 14 to 18 committing any felony could be certified (transferred) to the adult court system upon a motion filed by the juvenile officer, the child, the child’s custodian, or the juvenile court.
