Montana DPHHS Begins $300 Million Behavioral Health Reform Initiative
The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) is launching a statewide behavioral health reform initiative funded by a $300 million appropriation of state funds. The reform is authorized by House Bill (HB) 872, signed on May 22, 2023. In addition to directing reform, the bill created the Behavioral Health System for Future Generations Fund. The goal of the reform is to expand intensive and community-based behavioral health care and developmental disabilities services across Montana. Additionally, HB 872 establishes a commission to make recommendations on investments to the governor. DPHHS will support the work of the commission . . .
