Montana Judge Temporarily Blocks Medicaid Rate Cuts For Assisted Living & Skilled Nursing Facilities
On June 13, 2018, a judge ordered the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) to reinstate the 2017 Medicaid reimbursement rates for assisted living and skilled nursing operators while a lawsuit filed by facility operators proceeds. On June 11, 2018, the Montana Health Care Association (MHCA) and six long-term facility provider organizations had sued the state for cutting reimbursement rates in January 2018 to close a budget shortfall. The rate had been $187.17 per person per day, DPHHS reduced it to $181.57. A hearing has been set for July 11, 2018.
