Montana Renews Medicaid Expansion
On March 28, 2025, Montana Governor Greg Gianforte signed legislation, House Bill 245, to reauthorize the state’s Medicaid expansion with the existing eligibility standards. In January 2016, the state expanded Medicaid eligibility to non-disabled, childless adults ages 18 to 64 with income up to 138% of the federal poverty level (about $15,600 per year). As of November 2024, the state Medicaid program covered about 75,000 people in the expansion population, about 13.6% of the total 550,620 Medicaid enrollees.
