More Than One Quarter Of Rural Hospitals In Eight States At Immediate Risk Of Closure
In six states (Alabama, Connecticut, Kansas, Mississippi, New York, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Tennessee), more than 25% of rural hospitals are at immediate risk of closure. Specifically, the number of rural hospitals in each of these states at immediate risk of closure include:
New York: 43% of all rural hospitals in the state (22 hospitals)
Alabama: 37% of all rural hospitals in the state (19 hospitals)
Connecticut: 33% of all rural hospitals in the state (1 hospital)
Oklahoma: 31% of all rural hospitals in the state (24 hospitals)
Mississippi: 30% of all rural hospitals in the state (22 hospitals)
