Tennessee Counties’ Emergency Juvenile Detention Contract Goes To Rite Of Passage

The government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee awarded a $9.6 million emergency contract to Rite of Passage to run the Nashville juvenile detention center. The emergency contract was put in place after the original contractor, Youth Opportunity, informed juvenile court officials of its intention to cancel its four-year, $28 million contract in May 2022, effective June 5, 2022. Youth Opportunity said that it ended the contract due to the financial difficulty meeting the contract requirements for staffing and security at the detention center.

The Rite of Passage contract started July 1, 2022, and runs through December 2023 . . .
