Nassau County, New York To End Foster Care Prevention Contract To Resolve Union Grievance
On June 1, 2015, the Nassau County, New York Department of Social Services (DSS) agreed as part of a prospective remedy for a union grievance, to return management of a contracted prevention and diversion program for youth deemed to be “persons in need of services” (PINS) back to county child welfare caseworkers, but as of late August 2015, that remedy had been modified to instead return only preventive services for youth PINS to county employees.
