U.S. Health Care Expenditures Expected To Grow 5.5% Annually Through 2026
National health spending growth, which was $3.5 trillion in 2017, is projected to rise by 5.5% annually from 2017 to 2026, reaching $5.7 trillion in 2026. During this period, the share of the gross domestic product (GDP) consumed by health spending is projected to rise from 17.9% in 2017, to 19.7% by 2026. Additionally, by 2026, federal, state, and local governments are projected to finance 47% of national health spending, up from 45% in 2016.
