Nearly 5% Of People Receiving State Mental Health Services Are Homeless

Among adults receiving mental health treatment or support services through state mental health agencies (SMHAs), 6.6% were classified as homeless based on their residential status at discharge or at the end of the reporting period in 2024. Overall, 4.9% of clients with reported residential status were homeless, including 199,019 adults and 5,359 children (0.5%).
