Nearly Half Of Behavioral Health Professionals Declining New Appointments For Medicare & Medicaid Beneficiaries
About one-quarter of the behavioral health professionals who could not make new appointments said they were no longer accepting new Medicare or Medicaid enrollees. Many within this group said they had stopped participating in traditional Medicare, or in Medicare Advantage and Medicaid MCO networks. About 73% of those who were unavailable for new Medicare or Medicaid appointments said they could not take on any new appointments for any individual, regardless of payer or payment method. Many of those said their caseloads were full.
