Nearly Half Of Medicaid Beneficiaries Discharged From Residential Opioid Treatment Do Not Receive Follow-Up Care Within 30 Days
About 47% of Medicaid beneficiaries in 10 states discharged from residential treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD) in 2018 and 2019 had received no follow-up treatment within 30 days. In the first seven days post-discharge, about 63% received no follow-up treatment. The percentage who received follow-up treatment and/or medication assisted treatment (MAT) averaged 53%, and across the 10-state analysis, ranged from 45% to 64%.
