Nebraska DCFS Recommends Legislature Continue Child Welfare Lead Agency Contract With Nebraska Families Collaborative

On March 16, 2015, the Nebraska Division of Children & Family Services (DCFS) recommended that the legislature allow DCFS to extend its child welfare lead agency pilot contract with Nebraska Families Collaborative (NFC). Under the pilot project, NFC provides case management, care coordination, preventive services, and out-of-home care in the Eastern Service Area that includes Douglas and Sarpy counties. DCFS intended to begin executing the extension on April 1, 2015. The contract that began July 1, 2014 and ends June 30, 2015 is valued at $59.9 million.
