Nebraska Launches Medicaid Work Requirements For Expansion Population

On May 1, 2026, the Nebraska Medicaid program launched new federal work reporting requirements for able-bodied adults ages 19 to 64 enrolled through the Medicaid expansion population. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is phasing in the reporting requirements gradually, with reviews occurring during an existing member’s regularly scheduled Medicaid renewal period. The reporting requirement applies immediately to new Medicaid applicants eligible through the expansion category.
