New California Law Requires Assisted Living Facilities To Provide Video Conferencing Devices For Residents
On October 4, 2021, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed legislation, Assembly Bill (AB) 665, that requires licensed residential care facilities for the elderly (RCFEs) with existing internet service to provide residents access to at least one device that enables virtual visits. Starting January 1, 2022, an internet access device must be available to residents in a manner that allows them to have a reasonable level of personal privacy and to use the device to discuss personal or confidential information. The device must be available to residents in a way that supports shared access during reasonable hours for all facility residents . . .
