New Hampshire ranks as the best state for retirement in 2025, while Louisiana ranks as the worst, according to a recent analysis by Bankrate. Four of the top 10 states for retirement are in New England (Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont), and three are Western states (Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming), according to the analysis. Eight of the 10 worst-ranked states for retirees are in the Sun Belt, along with Louisiana, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Oklahoma, California, New Mexico, and Texas, according to the analysis.
