New Jersey To Close Two Juvenile Detention Facilities
The State of New Jersey is planning to close two juvenile justice facilities, one of which is more than 100 years old. Funding has been approved to close the New Jersey Training School in Monroe Township and the Female Secure Care & Intake Facility (Hayes) in Bordentown. They will be replaced by smaller, state-of-the-art juvenile rehabilitation centers that will each house between 40 and 72 youth; one will be located in Ewing, Mercer County and another in Winslow Township, Camden County.
