New Jersey Medicaid 1115 Waiver Approved To Coordinate Behavioral Health, Housing & Other Social Services

On March 30, 2023, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved New Jersey’s Medicaid 1115 demonstration amendment for the NJ FamilyCare program to coordinate behavioral health and social needs, including housing. The approval is in effect from April 1, 2023, through June 30, 2028.

The plan includes a multifaceted, integrated housing strategy for Medicaid beneficiaries that incorporates coverage for additional targeted services, and coordination across state and community resources involved in the provision of health and housing services. This includes:
