New Kentucky Medicaid Managed Care Contracts Effective July 1; Same MCOs & New Provisions

On July 1, 2015, the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) awarded new Medicaid managed care organization (MCO) contracts to Passport Health Plan, Anthem, Coventry Cares, Humana, and Wellcare; the same organizations that held the previous contracts awarded in 2011.

The MCOs are at risk for all Medicaid physical health, behavioral health, and pharmacy services. The contracts have an initial term of one year followed by four one-year renewal options, ending on June 30, 2020.
