New York Abuse Settlement Transitions State-Run Group Home To Private Operator
The week of December 17, 2019, the New York Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) transitioned state operation of a group home in the Bronx to the Institute of Applied Human Dynamics. OPWDD agreed to complete the transition that was already underway, as part of a settlement to a lawsuit filed by residents of a state-run group home alleging abuse. The court documents direct OPWDD to turn over operations to a private non-profit provider organization.
