On June 10, 2015, New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio announced that the city was ending its Rikers Island jail medical contract with Corizon Health as of December 31, 2015. All services will be assumed by the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC), which oversees the city’s public hospitals.
