New York Medicaid To Transition Foster Children To Managed Care In October 2019
The New York Department of Health (DOH) is planning to enroll children in foster care in Medicaid managed care by October 1, 2019. This target was released in March 2019, in a “Children’s Medicaid Transformation Update” that revised an earlier timeline projected in February 2019.
Currently children in foster care are enrolled in fee-for-service (FFS) Medicaid. The state has been working on plans for the transition since 2016, and had initially anticipated launching enrollment in January 2017, but pushed back the launch date several times to ensure that the systems would be able to meet the needs . . .
