New York State Office For The Aging To Pilot ElliQ Voice-Activated Companion Robot
The New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) is launching an initiative to provide a voice-operated companionship robot called ElliQ to isolated older adults experiencing loneliness. The pilot program will place ElliQ devices with over 800 older adults.
The participants will be selected by local offices for the aging and the office’s partners. Information is not yet available about the cost to participants, how individuals could indicate interest in participation, or when the services will begin during the 2023 fiscal year. NYSOFA has not disclosed how it will measure the effectiveness of ElliQ.
