New York To Expand Income & Asset Limits For Its Medicaid Buy-In Program For Working People With Disabilities
On November 6, 2024, the New York State Department of Health announced plans to amend its Medicaid Buy-In Program for Working People with Disabilities (MBI-WPD) to expand the income and asset limits so that more working people with disabilities can qualify for the program. The state released a draft Medicaid 1115 waiver amendment for public comment through December 6, 2024. The state is seeking to implement the changes after required approvals are received.
If approved, the amendment will allow the state to make the following changes:
Continue to disregard all funds held in retirement funds or accounts.
