New York To Require Commercial Health Plans To Pay Medicaid Rates To State-Licensed Behavioral Health Organizations
Starting January 1, 2025, health insurers regulated by New York State will be required to reimburse in-network provider organizations licensed, certified, or authorized by the Office of Mental Health (OMH) and Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) at or above the Medicaid rate for outpatient services. The mandate applies to individual and group plans renewing on or after January 1, 2025. The mandate also applies to health maintenance organizations, student health plans, municipal cooperative health benefit plans, and prepaid health services plans.
