Nine States Sue HHS Over May 2024 Section 504 Rule

Nine states led by Texas, and joined by Alaska, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, and South Dakota, are suing the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to challenge Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the integration mandate. Under this mandate, state and local governments and any entity that accepts federal funding for health care, education, employment, housing, and transportation must serve people with disabilities in the most integrated setting appropriate for the person.
