No-Shows For Behavioral Health Telehealth Appointments 42% Higher Than For In-Person Appointments

The appointment no-show rate for outpatient behavioral health treatment was 4% higher for telehealth appointments than for in-person appointments, in rural Louisiana from May 2022 through January 2023. The difference in no- show rates was discovered in an analysis of more than 9,700 appointments made by more than 1,400 people. Those scheduled for telehealth visits were 42% more likely to miss their appointments than those scheduled for an in-person visit.
